The Role of Early Maladaptive Schemas in Postpartum Depression

Purpose. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between postpartum depression and early maladaptive schemas. Design Methods. sample our consists women who gave birth in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty Medicine, Department Obstetrics Gynecology applied for control purposes at least 4th week 6th month postpartum. Sociodemographic data clinical evaluation form prepared by researchers (the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EDSS)) Young Schema Scale-Short Form (YSS-SF3) were filled participants. Findings. In results compared with without depression, PPD had schema subdimensions disconnection (emotional deprivation, social isolation, defectiveness), impaired autonomy (failure, pessimism, vulnerability harm/illness), self-boundaries (insufficient self-control), high standards (approval-seeking) detected. Conclusion. showed that some schemas are more common diagnosed depression. Early detection very important its prevention treatment. Evaluation may be helpful determining risk disease.
